ABOUT THE ROLE
Sustainability
- Ensure all directives on environmental protection and preservation, re-usage and minimum wastage, purchasing and packaging are followed in the department.
Wellness
- Fully embrace, implement, safeguard and internally market the overall Wellness philosophy, concepts and programs.
- All aspects of wellness initiatives will be adopted and promoted throughout the Human Resources and Training functions.
Specific
- Assume full responsibility for the efficient operation of the Sustainability function to provide on going compliance with Sustainability Guidelines and execution of the approved resort-specific Sustainability action plan, encompassing the Resort’s Sustainability projects and conservation efforts.
- Manage Sustainbility fund on a monthly basis and ensure the funds are collected and distributed in an effective and transparent manner.
- Ensure proper and full documentation of all projects and initiatives that’s supported by the Sustainability fund.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with key community organizations and representatives such as schools, special interest groups, local government departments and tourism associations.
- Engage with local community on a regular basis to ensure the Resort is active and a supportive member through Sustainability funded projects and educational/fun sustainability activities.
- Develop and lead Sustainability activities for hosts on a monthly basis.
- Connect the Resort with globally recognized sustainability events, initiatives such as Earth Day, World’s Ocean Day and Global Shoreline Cleanup for guests and hosts participation.
- Cultivate strategic partnerships with organizations to receive Sustainability Fund support based on guidance around themes and causes from the General Manager and Home Office Sustainability.
- Develop and lead Sustainability-related experiences for guests that highlight the resort’s sustainability efforts, the local community/culture, the unique environment and Sustainability Fund projects.
- Research, prepare and update collaterals relating to Sustainability-related experiences.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and practices, conduct research as appropriate and continually update knowledge and skills and implement the most suitable sustainability practices for the operation that are relevant and in line with Six Senses policies.
- Maintain constant interaction with and provision of support to and communication with other departments on how sustainability is intrinsic to the smooth functioning of the operation.
Administration
- Complete relevenant reports accurately, on time and maintained for reference, including the collection of the property’s Sustainable Performance Indicators from relevant departments and achievements for the sustainability fund to Home Office Sustainability.
- Take corrective actions immediately when issues are identified, particularly for Sustainability and Quality assessments.
- Attend and/or conduct necessary meetings and briefings as instructed by the General Manager.
Quality
- Ensure Sustainability guidelines and standard operating procedures will be adopted and followed by all hosts so that our performance benchmarks are maintained and exceeded.
- Ensure Sustainability standards and practices are continually reviewed through my physical presence in all areas on a regular basis, while product maintenance issues are promptly rectified.
Marketing & Public Relations
- Create and share highlights of Sustainability projects, sustainability-related content and other content relating to the Resort with the Marketing Team for communication to social and other media outlets, plus for inclusion in Six Senses external and internal newsletters.
- Provide guidance to the PR team on their accurate and eloquent description of sustainability elements within the resort, Sustainability Fund projects and strategic partnerships.
- Undertake communication of relevant sustainability projects and initiatives and expectations on action and/or support from Home Office Sustainability to Resort teams
- Communicate & share best practices shared from other properties throughout Six Senses Global Sustainability Team for adaptation and implementation at the Resort.
Financial Performance
- Manage and facilitate spending of sustainability funds and work with partners to quantify impacts resulting from sustainability fund activities, under direction from Home Office Sustainability, such as hours taught, number of turtle hatchlings released, amount of plastic waste recycled and so on.
- Strictly adhere to budget and ensure all costs will be continually monitored and controlled to drive profitability, while taking into consideration the preservation of required standards with every decision made.
People Management
- Build and develop a culture of sustainability within the property through the provision of direction, delegation, interaction, encouragement and enthusiasm, training and counselling to build a loyal, productive and effective team.
- Support each department and the General Manager in achievement of their sustainability goals and implementation of Sustainability Guidelines
